Notes on Support Structures

This page carries the announcement that went out with our latest set of notes. The method is the one we keep returning to: begin with a place we are actually standing in, describe the structures that hold the work up, and leave the questions open long enough for other people to answer them.

What is in the announcement

Short written notes rather than a report. They sit next to the Structures of Support survey and the Germantown interviews, and they are meant to be read as a set: what support looks like once it is written down, who keeps it going, and which parts of a neighborhood never make it onto a map at all.

One outside link travels with the notes. We keep it filed under the plain label pavilion888 and list it beside the workshop material, so anyone following the thread can reach it from one place instead of searching back through old posts.

How to use it

Read the notes in whatever order suits you. Bring them into a conversation, mark them up, disagree with them out loud. If something is missing or wrong, write to us and we will correct the page; the announcement is a working document rather than a finished statement.
